Note to all my friends:
Note to all my friends who are having their first sink disposal:

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUT STRAIGHT SPAGHETTI DOWN YOUR DISPOSAL!

Though I have had a disposal for the whole of my life I can remember, I have never had the opportunity to put old spaghetti down the disposal. My dad never let anything go to waste, and my mom always took care of emptying the fridge. Apparently, it clogs the u-bend... Quite badly... Yeah... I didn't make a mess fixing it though. All good now. Just take my advice and don't try it.

another thing not to put down your drains is coffee grounds. They sit at the bottom of the U-joint and adhere to any greasy, oily, stringy, clumpy things that come down. The blockage becomes a sort of flexible concrete that's very hard to get out of the drain. And celery - the strings don't grind well in the disposal.
