If you can understand any of this, you get a gold star...
So I was flying IMC today on the 8DME arch of the OMN VOR, getting ready to trasition to the ILS for 7L at KDAB and I ask my IP about my logbook and loging PIC time. He told me that I could log PIC now that I have my PPC anytime I'm flying, except when I'm in a lesson and can't meet PTS. He also said that IPs get to log PIC anytime they fly, and that's onna the best benifits of getting your CFI, and even better with your CFII. It's right then that we hear the OM for the ILS and I begin to make my turn.

Anyways, that was a fun flight. Cya.

IMC=Instrument Meteorological Conditions

DME= Distance measuring equipment - Stated as DME in communications, "what is your DME from the airport"?

VOR=Very high frequency Omnidirectional Range. A radio navigation aid operating in the 108-118 MHz band. A VOR ground station transmits a two-phase directional signal through 360°. the aircraft's VOR receiver enables a pilot to identify his radial or bearing from/to the ground station. VOR is the most commonly used radio navigation aid in private flying.

ILS=Intrument Landing System. A precision instrument approach system, generally used to land at fields experiencing weather

IP= going with a pilot instructor here

PIC=Pilot In Command. The pilot responsible for the operation and safety of an aircraft during flight time

PTS= pretty sure it means practical test standards

CFI = A pilot holding a Commercial pilot certificate who, after passing two written tests and a practical flight exam, is FAA-rated to give flight instruction. The flight instructor rating is specific as to type of instruction, eg, single-engine airplane, multi-engine airplane, instrument flying (CFII), helicopter and stuff

so yea, i've still got no freaking idea...

I think it has something to do with him not needing to see the runway and being able to land just on instrumentation alone, kinda a scary thing. <_<

oops, forgot OM which is outer marker. which is basiclly about a mile inside the point where the glideslope intercepts the intermediate altitude, is highly direction and is pointed up so you hear it just as you pass over. Meaning it was the end of his flight

It was right until you got into defining it >.>
